The Moment That Changed Everything

I spent eight years selling engagement rings before I decided to start making them differently.
I worked at a jewelry store in Chicago. A nice store. Good reputation. The kind of place where men in suits would walk in on a Saturday afternoon, nervous, wallet-ready, looking for a ring that would change their lives.

Here's how it usually went.
They'd stand at the glass counter, overwhelmed. I'd ask about their girlfriend — what she's like, how they met, what makes her laugh. And nine times out of ten, they'd give me this beautiful, detailed portrait of a woman they clearly adored.

Then I'd watch my manager step in. Within three minutes, the conversation would shift entirely. Away from her. Away from their story. Straight into carat weight, clarity grades, and financing plans. The man who walked in wanting to express his love would walk out having made a financial decision.

I watched this happen hundreds of times. And each time, I thought: this is backward.
An engagement ring is one of the most personal things a person will ever buy. It's not a car. It's not a watch. It's a physical object that says, "I see you. I know you. I choose you." How did we let the industry reduce that to a math problem?

Why Clorosea Exists

That question stayed with me. Eventually, it became Clorosea.
The name comes from two things I believe love should feel like: a rose opening — beauty that reveals itself slowly, more every day. And the sea — deep, steady, endless. Cloris + Sea. A promise you can wear.

What We Believe

At Clorosea, we build every ring differently. Before we talk about stones or settings, we ask: what do you want her to feel when she looks down at her hand? From that answer, everything else follows. The gem. The cut. The band. The details. Every element becomes part of a language that only the two of them speak.

We don't sell the biggest stones. We don't push the most expensive metals. We design rings that mean something — because the rings people treasure for a lifetime aren't the ones with the highest appraisal value. They're the ones that got the meaning right.

I left that Chicago jewelry store because I believed engagement rings deserved better. A better conversation. A better 
experience. 
A better reason to exist.
